Description
Bright summer gold. Waves of wood smoke with orchard fruits. Slight note of barley contrast the rich peat character infused with green pear and nectarine. Nutty oak and vanilla pods with a touch of white pepper and lime for a crisp smoky finish.
Back in the 1970’s, BenRiach made the bold move of distilling a proportion of its whisky using peated malted barley, marking a return to the original Speyside character and flavour of malts during the 19th century. The malted barley has been smoked using highland peat, enriching the whisky with regional notes of wood and campfire smoke. This unique Speyside whisky has matured in bespoke, handcrafted quarter casks. Smaller casks allow more interaction between wood and spirit, intensifying maturation, to create a whisky with a rich depth of flavour.Â
